Addressing the Building Trades of Alberta conference, Sean Strickland, Executive Director of Canada\u2019s Building Trades Unions, emphasized the importance of unity across Canada\u2019s skilled trades and the role of major projects in strengthening our nation\u2019s economic and energy sovereignty. <\/p>\n
As Sean put it, \u201cwhile Canada continues to navigate trade negotiations and unjust tariffs, it is paramount that the brothers and sisters of Canada\u2019s Building Trades Unions stand together and support the major projects strengthening Canada\u2019s sovereignty.” <\/p>\n
Alberta is poised to play a critical role in that national effort. The unprecedented scale of major projects anticipated across the province spans industrial, infrastructure, and energy development, including the critical energy infrastructure that Canada urgently needs. <\/p>\n
These projects represent more than economic opportunity. They are a chance to strengthen Canada\u2019s ability to produce and export our resources on our own terms while creating good-paying unionized careers for skilled tradespeople across the country. <\/p>\n
CBTU, our affiliates, and our provincial councils are ready to meet the moment in front of us. By working together across provinces, trades, and sectors, we can help advance the major projects that strengthen Canada\u2019s energy independence and national sovereignty. <\/p>\n
